The Current Situation

In April 2024, a federal law was passed requiring ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, to sell TikTok to a non-Chinese entity by January 19, 2025, or face a ban in the United States.

On December 6, 2024, a U.S. appeals court upheld this law.

On December 13, 2024, TikTok's emergency injunction to pause the law was denied.

The Biden administration has the authority to grant ByteDance a one-time 90-day extension if progress toward a sale is demonstrated. However, the stance of the incoming Trump administration remains uncertain.

The Supreme Court is currently reviewing the case, with oral arguments scheduled for January 10, 2025.

What This Means for TikTok's Users

If TikTok is banned in the U.S., users who already have the app downloaded will not lose immediate access to it. However, the app will be removed from app stores, meaning new users won't be able to download it. Over time, without updates, the app will experience technical issues and become increasingly difficult to use.

Regardless of what happens with TikTok, AuthorScale remains fully functional. Our platform is designed to help you create and share content across multiple social media platforms, not just TikTok.

Our Commitment to You

If TikTok becomes unavailable, we will continue supporting you across alternative platforms like Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and any emerging platforms that gain traction with your audience.

We're here to ensure your voice is heard, no matter where your readers are.
